Welcome to the Facedown Records / More Than Sound action group page. Our goal is to create a community of music fans and bands that will work together to meet the needs of people through Know Think Act.
Each month we will be picking a different need(s) and working to raise the money to meet that specific need. We believe that there is strength in numbers and through God's grace we can accomplish more together than on our own.
Would you consider joining us to raise money and awareness? You can donate directly to the needs right here (see featured needs below) and you can also sign up to be an Ally here at Know Think Act which will enable you to spread the word easier.
Because of leprosy, many in this community are in need of orthopedic shoes and walking appliances. The special boots are tailor-made with special leather and other soft materials to enable those with recurrent leprosy wounds to walk comfortably. Most of the time they walk with open sandals or bare feet, exposing their wounds to more infection and injuries.

Ceiling - Home Again Lower House
Last year Home Again's lower house was expanded to contain 4 additional bedrooms. The rooms and roofing have been completed, but they lack the funds to put in the ceiling. Using mosquito nets helps to cut down on the cases of malaria in the home, but having a ceiling would greatly reduce the amount of mosquitos that enter the home. The ceiling is also needed in order to finish wiring the house for electricity.

Leprosy is a terrible, devastating and debilitating disease. It causes open wounds and sores that desperately need to be treated and dressed on a regular basis. $80 will dress the wounds of 40 people twice a week. As of now, they are only able to be dressed once a month. This will be a HUGE step forward for those suffering from this disease. Bibles and Pastoral Study Materials
There are so many in western Uganda that are spiritually hungry but lack a Bible of their own to read and study, especially a Bible translated into their own language, Rutooro. Additionally, local Pastors have no access to even the simplest of study materials with which to prepare their sermons or to gain knowledge and understanding for ministering to their congregations. Bibles will be handed out free of charge to all who desire one, and the study materials will form the basis of a lending library that local Pastors can utilize to gain further knowledge of the Scriptures

New House for Widow
Kadoma Peluce and her 5 children live in a small dilapidated stick and mud house. Her thatched roof is also in bad shape. Over all the home is a very poor living environment for Peluce and her family. Peluce's husband passed away back in 2005. She has been struggling to provide for her family ever since.
She has been enrolled in the Bringing Hope to the Family assistance program since shortly after the death of her husband. Bringing Hope helps to provide for her children's tuition needs.
Bringing hope to the Family would like to provide Peluce and her family with a new brick home with an iron sheet roof. This will provide Peluce a much better environment to raise her children in.
By providing Peluce with a new home Bringing Hope is successfully keeping these children from having to enter the orphanage system. This will allow Bringing Hope to provide full time care to those other children who do not have a safe and solid family environment.

Home Again - Bathroom/Kitchen Addition
Bringing Hope to the Family desires to add an addition to the upper house of Home Again. The upper house is where all of the babies and toddlers are housed. This addition will include a bathroom and a small kitchen. These rooms will help the house moms better care for the small children.
The bathroom will include indoor showers and toilets for the children. Currently the hallway in the upper house is lined with baby potties and is very unsanitary. The younger kids in the house are also scared of going to the outdoor latrines at night. This will allow them to go freely and will hopefully cut down on bed wetting.
The kitchen will allow the moms to prepare bottles for babies, as well as drinks and snacks for the toddlers inside as opposed to using the make shift kitchen outside the upper house.
This addition will be a great help to Home Again and will greatly increase their level sanitation and care.
An exciting bit of news for this project is that we have a donor that is willing to match up to $4000 towards this project. So, in total we are only needing to raise $9500 to complete this project.

Hope Again Medical Center - Windows
Windows - Aluminum windows with mosquito screens and burglar proofing grilles (17 windows)
Hope Again Medical Center in Kaihura currently operates through an outpatient clinic offering support to HIV/AIDS-positive people, especially orphans and their caretakers. The centre offers free treatment to all the HIV/AID positive orphans as well as free HIV/AIDS testing and counseling to the entire public. The medical centre has a clientele of 1060 HIV-positive clients, of which 265 are children below the age of 17, 497 are women, and 298 are men. Most of the children are orphans.
The Joint Clinic Research Center (JCRC) and the District Health unit provide the ARV (anti-retroviral) treatment while HAMC offers free HIV/AIDS counseling and testing services, treatment for opportunistic infections, pays for X-rays and scans, and provides transportation to JCRC in Fort Portal. Also, HAMC offers allowances for physicians from the health centre V (hospital in the neighboring town of Kyenjojo) to visit HAMC twice a month to administer treatment. The medical centre also offers medical treatment to other people in the community, but it mainly exists to provide services to the HIV/AIDS patients in the community. The children tested are between the age of 6 months and 17 years. The majority of children is school-aged orphaned and vulnerable children in need of medical and educational support.
HAMC is currently operating in a rented building, where they cannot become a fully registered medical clinic under the government. Having full registration would enable the center to receive the financial support of the government. Also, HAMC cannot expand in their current rented facility, and it hopes that it can do so in order to offer a larger number of services to the surrounding communities.
HAMC facilities are now under construction. The construction of the proposed facility will occur in four phases. The first phase will complete the outpatient clinic, which will allow the center to continue to provide the current services offered. In phases 2 - 4, two patient ward buildings will be added as the services of the outpatient clinic also increase, and a structure that will include an operating theatre and a delivery room will also be added.
The phase I proposed outpatient clinic building is an approximately 3,200 square-foot structure. It will include two exam rooms, a treatment room, a laboratory, a counseling room, a 2-stage delivery room, two patient wards, a nurses room, a storage room, an administrative office, a handicapped-accessible bathroom, an open-air reception/waiting area, and a records/dispensing room.

Dressing & Medical Treatment for Chigoe Fleas
The children of Blessed Camp are being plagued by Chigoe Fleas, or 'jiggers.' Chigoe Fleas are parasites that burrow into the skin and feet. Even after their removal, this creates literal holes that will not heal in the feet of the children and adults effected.
This is a major issue facing Blessed Camp. This money will provide complete and proper treatment for the jiggers. It provides for the removal of the jiggers (cotton balls, razor blades, and solution), medicine and salve for the wound, while also providing medicine that can treat side effects, and a multivitamin to help the healing process. In addition, this need helps cover laundry and new clothes to get the jiggers out of their clothes. This, along with the need for the shoes will provide for the complete care of this need.
